The Aha! Moment We All Seek: Your Life Changing Entrepreneur Revelation !

Evolving Your Entrepreneurial Consciousness*

These days more than any other time in our human existence the use of the term entrepreneur has increased at least ten fold compared to a decade ago. The term entrepreneur (Entrepreneurial Consciousness) is more commonly associated with business start-up owners and rightly so as Steve Spoonamore describes the true essence of entrepreneurship simply as ” Define, Invest, Build, Repeat” i.e. Define (the Market), Invest (Cash/Resource), Build (The product/ develop the service), Repeat. To illuminate entrepreneurship in a slightly more fundamental light the Oxford dictionary describes an entrepreneur as …” A person who sets up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit.”

Entrepreneurship: “Pursuit of opportunity without regard to resources currently controlled.”

(Pr. Howard Stevenson)

Now as we have observed from the above, Professor Howard Stevenson posits a more dynamic perspective of entrepreneurship (not necessarily expressed through ideas). Through capitalizing on everyday opportunities you can all take and effectively apply to your life to not only effect motivation and positive change but continually evolve Entrepreneurial Consciousness (E.C.).

This would be a stance to actively cultivate the success you want in your life. In acknowledging that we all have an Entrepreneurial Consciousness (E.C.). One of the key success factors in any breakthrough is to faithfully and consistently hold the vision of what you want to achieve, what you want to see take place. All of us regardless of whether we have /are starting a business or do not have a business (however you earn a living). We have innately and inherently used our Entrepreneurial Consciousness, because naturally we are wired to grow and advance independent of circumstance.

At some stage in your life, you have pursued an opportunity without regard to resources currently controlled (and if you haven’t I urge you to start now). Meaning, you operated from a place of belief to attain/ achieve something even though you may have not met the criteria of things needed to achieve or get what you want.

“Therefore entrepreneurship is an attitude, a mindset and a business model too.”

Be it applying for a job and they stipulate they prefer someone with a certain background unfamiliar to you or they are looking for a person with three years experience. Though you have two years experience and you secure the job anyway, you have effectively pursued an opportunity without regard for resources currently controlled (the resource being the experience or background).

Entrepreneurial Consciousness:

To grow, and evolve something, using and practicing it is of paramount importance, truly.

In understanding that if something is not being nurtured and growing. It can be said to be dying and fading to a slow death. Hence the importance of acknowledging and practicing your Entrepreneurial Consciousness. As some may have not evolved their E.C and that’s okay they can now start today. Furthermore, some have evolved it and are utilizing it not only to their personal benefit, but to the benefit of friends, family and the wider society who could and often do find inspiration and take action. Simply because through your example you give permission for others to do their hearts desire, permission to shine their gifts and talents too.

“Success by itself is not worth the risk of failure… The possibility of realizing your unique vision is.” – Anon

Entrepreneurial Consciousness: Take Calculated Risks and Take Responsibility.

When Richard Branson, founder of Virgin was setting up the Virgin Airlines brand. Naturally he negotiated numerous terms and conditions. Though what I would like to highlight today is that he negotiated a clause or clauses. To the effect that he could return the all planes to Boeing in the event the airline was not successful… and the rest is history though, take calculated risks.

“Take Responsibility…”

Take responsibility, depending on their spiritual beliefs some people outsource their spiritual wellbeing to their mosque, temple or church. Assume responsibility, some people outsource their financial wellbeing to their job or to the government or economy (or all three). Comprehend and get hold of responsibility, some people outsource their health/ physical wellbeing to their doctor. Whatever the case may be, like John Maxwell said the “greatest day for you and me is when we take responsibility for our attitudes, that is the day we truly grow up” This rings true as only after we take responsibility are we positioned to influence our lives and others for the better because we have taken charge of the quality of our lives.

Regardless of who you are (or rather who you think you are or aren’t ) and where you are, you can and now do exercise your own unique Entrepreneurial Consciousness. The question now is; for what you are seeking, what is the next step ? Make a decision to use, to exercise your Entrepreneurial Consciousness. and by doing this you are pushing your boundaries and growing it.

Pursue your desired opportunity/ desired state/ desired outcome regardless of not having everything at this present moment. Naturally because if you are committed enough, passionate enough (with perseverance) you will meet your success sooner rather than later. Stay the course regardless of the conditions and regardless of the challenges.

In closing…

I will leave you with this, my favourite life quote…

‘ …take some risks, take some chances, because if you do not risk you can not grow, if you can’t grow you can’t be your best, and if you can’t be your best, you can’t be happy and if you can’t be happy… then what… else… is there ? ‘
